Expatriate tax relief

Many countries have expatriate tax relief designed to encourage workers, especially highly skilled workers, to enter their labour market. A typical example is the Netherlands which offers a 30% expatriate tax ruling to highly skilled contractors.

These rulings often replace normal expenses, allowances, credits and most other deductions normally available for resident tax payers. Often special qualifying criteria is applicable and eligibility must be specifically granted by the relevant tax authorities.
